The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) is donating $50,000 in funding to the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre (NORMHC) for the centre's newest mining exhibit.
NORMDC is a not for profit organization run by volunteers who are passionate on “educating the public through the exhibition of artifacts,” according to a press release from the city.
The museum is currently expanding “through construction and acquisition of new exhibits over the next few years,” and the newest addition is Vale's former hot metal car, used to “transport molten copper to the refinery.”
“I am pleased that we are able to continue to support the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum & Heritage Centre through our economic development strategy,” Scott Lund, GSDC said in a press release.
“The Museum continues to expand its exhibits, which further helps showcase the importance and impact the railroad has had on the local lumber and mining industries. This type of growth is an essential part of our economic development.”
