Random Acts of Kindness: Everyone in Garson knows the amazing Stan Hayduk, so we’re surprising him for his 90th birthday

Watch Sudbury.com’s seventh day of kindness as we throw a surprise birthday party for a man who loves his community and continues to give back to it even at age 90

Welcome to the seventh day of Sudbury.com’s Random Acts of Kindness, supported by @homeEnergy.

Today, we’re going to step away from Christmas festivities because we’re celebrating Stan Hayduk’s 90th birthday.

Stan has been a Lion’s Club member for more than 55 years and served as mayor of Nickel Centre for over a decade in the 1980s and into the 1990s — based on everything we were told about him by folks in Garson he’s quite possibly their most beloved community member.
Stan has also been an active member of the St. John’s Cemetery Group since 1997 and spends countless hours helping maintain and upkeep the cemetery.

Mark Andrews, a fellow member of the Garson Lion’s Club, nominated Stan to honour his ongoing volunteer efforts as well as his decades of volunteerism, and to celebrate his upcoming 90th birthday.

Stan’s birthday is on Dec. 19, but we went over to surprise him a few weeks earlier to make his 90th year around the sun extra special.

Watch as we surprise him with birthday cake and gifts. Make sure to wish him a happy birthday in the comments!

Each weekday morning leading up to Christmas, Sudbury.com will recognize a deserving person, family or organization with a random act of kindness.

Visit Sudbury.com tomorrow morning again for another act of kindness.
