Science North has announced that Jennifer Booth has been named interim CEO, replacing Guy Labine, who in December announced his departure from Science North in March to become CEO of the Arizona Science Center.

Jennifer Booth will begin as Interim CEO effective March 7 and will serve as Interim CEO while a sub-committee of Science North’s Board of Trustees leads an executive search for a new CEO.

Booth has a background in both the public and private sector and is currently the director of finance for Science North and a member of the senior executive team. She has 12 years of experience within the organization.

During her time at the science centre, Booth has also served as Senior Manager of Finance & Accountability.

Her background in the private sector includes roles as manager business advisory services at Vale and vice president of operations at Gougeon Insurance. She is a graduate of the Northern Leadership Program, an innovative program spearheaded and managed by Science North in partnership with local and Northern organizations.

Booth also led the development of a Balanced Scorecard for Science North, a key strategy tool used by the organization to measure and drive performance. Most recently, she led the development of Science North’s revitalized Strategic Plan that will guide the organization from 2022-25.

“On behalf of the Board, I congratulate Jennifer on her appointment as Interim CEO,” said trustee board chair, Dr. Stephen Kosar, in a release.  “Her strategic vision, strong management and leadership skills will serve Science North well over the coming months and will also help position an incoming CEO for success.”
