Update: Man pulls driver from truck after serious collision

Truck and sedan collide at intersection of The Kingsway and Third Avenue

Update: June 29, 8:40 p.m.

A Subury resident pulled a driver from his pickup truck following a serious collision at the intersection of The Kingsway and Third Avenue on June 29.

Damian Graham was coming out of his home on Third Avenue when he heard a loud bang just meters from his home.

"I heard the bang and I came over and saw both cars were pretty badly smashed," said Graham.

"From what I saw, the beige car was in the westbound lane, trying to make a left turn. The red truck was trying to stop and it took out the pole and then the guy in the beige car tried to get out of the way but they collided."

According to Graham the driver of the red truck was not badly injured, but was visibly shaken when Graham and a tow truck driver arrived at his vehicle.

"He wasn't badly hurt or anything but he wasn't really sure where he was or what had happened," said Graham. "Me and a tow truck driver popped the door open and got him out."

The driver of the beige car did not suffer any major injuries and was still at the scene of the collision.

Traffic in the area is backed up in the westbound lanes, as vehicles are being diverted into the eastbound lane to get around the debris. Eastbound lane on The Kingsway is reduced to one lane to allow for westbound vehicles to pass through.

Greater Sudbury Police Services, Greater Sudbury Fire Services and paramedics are all on scene and fire services officials are directing traffic as the traffic signals at the intersection have been knocked offline.
