Serviss announces he won't run again

Kevin Serviss, who ran for the Sudbury Conservatives in the federal election last January, has announced he won't run in the next federal election.“

After much deliberation, I have come to the conclusion I must decline this opportunity,” he said, in a newsletter circulated among local Conservative party members.

“I believe that the candidate who will represent our party needs to be committed to their role on a long-term basis in order to build the necessary name-recognition required to win an election in Sudbury.

This person should also possess the necessary passion required to envision themselves as the next member of parliament and work tirelessly for as long as necessary to see that accomplished.”

Serviss, who came in third place in the election last winter with 10,500 votes, is a retired police officer and Pentecostal minister.

He has worked as a safety supervisor for William Day construction since Feb. 2006.

In the past, Serviss has been involved with the Elgin St. Mission and the Samaritan Centre.
