The City of Greater Sudbury, on behalf of a group of local volunteers, is seeking ideas on the potential development of Southgate Park, a natural parkland area bordered by Nepahwin Avenue, Walford Road and Southgate Crescent.

Options for recreational development opportunities include, but are not limited to natural playground areas and/or community gardens.

Residents are invited to share their ideas for potential parkland development by attending an open house at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex on Thursday, October 24 between 4 and 7 p.m.

Southgate Park is not part of the city’s playground revitalization project, which is focused on existing municipal playgrounds rated in poor condition. Municipal funding is not allocated to this project.

Volunteers have indicated they are willing to fundraise for recreational development of Southgate Park. Community consultation is required prior to major development of municipal parks.

Proposed development of Southgate Park may be subject to further approval of Greater Sudbury Council. More information and an online survey are available at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca.
