On Saturday evening the Sudbury Wolves put up a noble fight against the Ottawa 67s but lost 5-4 in overtime.

The game started with a goal from Kocha Delic, assisted by David Goyette just a couple minutes into the first period. The two were superstars in Kingston just the night before and carried their legacy into Saturday’s game against Ottawa.

The goal was quickly followed up with a shot to the back of the net from Ottawa, evening out the scores. The rest of the game was a close back and forth between the two teams. Goyette, Delic, Evan Konyen and Quentin Musty all scored a goal each contributing to the team score. Assists were made by Goyette, Delic, Dylan Robinson, Marc Boudreau and Dominic Jendek.

Sudbury goalie Mitchell Weeks saved 34 out of 38 shots from Ottawa on Saturday night.

The fate of the game came down to an overtime shootout but the Wolves’ puck didn’t end up finding the net.

The Wolves are back on the road to Barrie where they will face the Colts on Tuesday night, Jan.18.

The current standings place the Sudbury Wolves in eighth place for the Eastern Conference and 17th place overall.
