On June 20, Regional Road 80 in Hanmer will be transformed into a soap box derby track.

The Greater Sudbury Impact 6/21 Soap Box Derby will bring together children to race against each other. Organized by The Human League, which just received 24 racers for the derby, the event is designed not only to bring out families for a fun time, but also to raise money so no child gets left behind.

“One out of every three children cannot afford to participate in organized sports,” said a news release from The Human League. “That is why, for nearly 20 years, the Human League Association has been raising money sponsor local children in sports.”

There are three age categories for the soap box derby: 7-9, 10-12 and 13 and up. The cost to enter is $15, and participants may rent a car for $10.

Only 50 participants will be able to race, so get wheeling with your registration. For more information, visit facebook.com/greatersudburyderby or humanleaguesudbury.com. For more information, call 705-929-9858.
