Soup Kitchen rings in New Year with Chinese flavour

About 200 people were expected to dig into hot meal

With New Year's only a few days away, the Blue Door Soup Kitchen served up a heaping helping of cheer with its annual New Year's meal.

Bob Johnston, a member of the public relations team at the soup kitchen, said it was expected that between 180 and 200 people would show up for the meal.

The kitchen was a beehive of activity prior to the doors opening, as volunteers busily prepared this year's meal.

Each year, the soup kitchen serves up a dish from a different nationality.

This year, soup kitchen users got to dig into a plate of Chinese food.

Next year, it will be an Italian meal, said Johnston.
