Both southbound lanes of Barry Downe Road are currently closed due to a major water main break near the New Sudbury Shopping Centre.

In a press release, city staff anticipate the lanes will reopen on Jan. 27 during the afternoon.

Crews are on site to repair the break.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays as one northbound lane will be used to accommodate southbound traffic until further notice.

Residents in the New Sudbury area can expect discoloured water until repairs are complete. Before doing laundry or starting dishwashers, residents are advised to check water for clarity. Once repairs are complete, excess sediments can be cleared from water by running a cold tap until the water runs clear.
