St. Charles College staff hope to eliminate the stress of high school transition from students and their parents with their stepping into Grade 9 information night.

The evening that will provide Grade 8 students and their parents with an opportunity to learn about Catholic secondary schools in general, and St. Charles programs in specific. The meeting is Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the St. Charles gymnasium. The school is located at 1940 Hawthorne Drive.

"Beginning secondary school can be stressful for parents and students, as it is often foreign territory. Our hope is that our stepping into Grade 9 evening will inform parents and students about secondary pathways, courses and programs so that the transition from Grade 8 to Grade 9 will be more comfortable process for them," said St. Charles principal, Patty Mardero, in a press release.

Teachers and guidance staff will be on hand during the event to meet families and answer questions.

"Parents and students will have the opportunity to listen to guidance staff, talk with teachers about different course offerings, and end their evening feeling well-informed about this next stage of education," explained Mardero.

"A Grade 9 information booklet will be given to all who attend, (and) our hope is that at the end of the presentation, parents and students will feel as excited about attending St. Charles College as we are about receiving them."
