Streets to avoid: Roadwork means lane reductions across the city this week

As summer draws to an end and winter approaches, city workers are out this week in various locations around the city doing roadwork.

Asphalt milling will reduce traffic to one lane at various locations around the city until Sept. 21 

Traffic control will in place and Sudbury Greater police will monitor traffic control through signalled intersections.

The work is being done from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the city said in a news release.

Areas affected by asphalt work include: 

  • Barry Downe Road at the Shoppers/Walmart entrance;
  • Walford Road at the Paris Street intersection;
  • Notre Dame Street at the Kathleen Street intersection;
  • Elm Street at the Lorne Street intersection; and,
  • Various locations along Lasalle Boulevard, Regent Street, Elm Street and Barrydowne Road.

Meanwhile, the decommissioning of a gas service closes the westbound curb lane on The Kingsway between the addresses 650 and 586 until 3 p.m. today.

Also on The Kingsway, curb and sidewalk removal and replacement closes the eastbound lane from Mount Adam to Silver Hills starting today until Oct. 6. Workers will be on the stie from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Over on Lorne Street, water main improvements will close the intersection at Gutcher Avenue until 5 p.m. today.
