Sudburian new mining VP

Effective this week, Allen Hayward started his new position as vice-president, mining, at Falconbridge Ltd. He will be responsible for the mining operations for the nickel business.
Effective this week, Allen Hayward started his new position as vice-president, mining, at Falconbridge Ltd. He will be responsible for the mining operations for the nickel business. As well, he will play a key role in the development of future nickel mining opportunities.

Hayward joined Falconbridge in 1981 as a mine planning engineer for Sudbury and was shortly thereafter appointed mine superintendent, Lockerby mine. In 1988, he transferred to United Keno Hill mines, Yukon Territory, but returned to Sudbury for a few years holding various senior mining roles before being transferred to Toronto as manager, corporate planning for the business development group.

In 1992, he transferred to Timmins, initially as manager of mines, and later as vice-president and general manager of Kidd mining division.

Most recently, Hayward was vice-president and general manager, Sudbury mines/mill business unit.
