Michael Bellmore, chair of the board of trustees for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, was elected to the position of vice-president of Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA) at the 90th annual general meeting held on June 27.

Bellmore previously held the position of regional director for Region 3 and served as trustee with the Sudbury Catholic District School Board for 13 years, including five years as chair and four years as vice-chair.

Bellmore will serve alongside OCSTA president Patrick J. Daly, chair of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board.

“I am honoured to serve as vice-president of OCSTA and represent the Sudbury Catholic District School Board and Northern Ontario,” Bellmore said.

“I am proud to work alongside my fellow elected executive members and OCSTA regionaldirectors as we strive to make decisions that will benefit the interests of all Catholic students both in the present and for the future.”

The Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association is the provincial voice for publicly funded Catholic education.

Founded in 1930, OCSTA represents the interests of Catholic school boards that collectively educates approximately 600,000 students in Ontario, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.
