Environment Canada says that even more snow than was originally expected could be on its way to Sudbury.

Anywhere between 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected Wednesday and Wednesday night.

A low pressure system approaching from the west is expected to bring a significant April snowfall to Northeastern Ontario Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Snow will move in by early Wednesday morning and become heavy at times. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are likely by Thursday morning, with locally higher amounts possible in a couple of locations.

“A low pressure system is expected to bring significant snowfall to the area beginning overnight tonight and continues into Wednesday,” said the statement, issued by Environment Canada just after 5 a.m. April 5.

“Snow is expected to be heavy at times on Wednesday. Current indications suggest possible snowfall accumulation of 10 to 20 cm by Wednesday night. There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact location of the heaviest snow.
