Sudbury man wins free coffee for a year from Tim Hortons

Pierre Laliberte thought he won a single free coffee, had no idea it was actually a year's worth

Sudburian Pierre Laliberte thought he had won a single free coffee when he rolled up the rim of his medium double-double on the first day of Tim Hortons Rrroll Up the Rim to Win Contest.

It wasn't until four days later, when he went to redeem it at the Tim Hortons restaurant on Algonquin Road, that he learned he had actually won free coffee for a year.

"I didn’t realize I won it for a year," Laliberte said. "The stub was in my wallet for three or four days.

"When I went to get a coffee that they said 'you won coffee for a year. How come you aren't happy?'

"But I was happy. I just can't show it."

On March 19, Laliberte received his prize — a Tim Hortons gift card which entitles him to one free coffee a day for a year.

The prize is a new addition to the contest which runs until March 28 or until cup supplies run out.

This year's Rrroll Up the Rim campaign included more than 36 million prizes such as:

  • 50 prizes of a 2018 Honda Civic Sedan EX-T
  • 500 Tim Hortons Free Coffee for a Year
  • 100 $5,000 CIBC prepaid cards
  • 50,000 $50 TimCards
  • Millions of latte, coffee and food prizes.

Guests have until April 20 to claim their winnings.
