Sudbury Catholic District School Board and the City of Greater Sudbury will host the annual Ontario Catholic Schools Trustees' Association AGM conference in 2003.

The conference will be held in Sudbury from May 8 to May 10 next year. It will be held at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.

More than 250 OCSTA delegates will be in the city to take in the three-day conference. The overall number of guests is expected to grow to near 400, as families will also be in attendance. It is expected the conference will generate tourist revenue for hotels, restaurants and retailers.

"We at the Sudbury Catholic board are very honoured to have been chosen to host the OCSTA conference. We are very pleased the City of Sudbury has been given this opportunity," said Jody Cameron, chair of the board.

Councillor and acting deputy-mayor Ron Dupuis said he sees this conference as a chance for Sudbury to be showcased to the delegates.

"Many delegates may be surprised by our beautiful landscape and vibrant new image," Dupuis said. "With 233 new lakes within our new city limits and 11 million trees planted since 1978, Sudbury has been reborn."

The annual general meeting for OCSTA is held in Toronto every two years and held in a different city every alternate year.
