Sudbury native Justine Giles releases her new single “I'm Done” July 7.

The song was produced and recorded in Toronto by Bill Bell, who has also done work for Jason Mraz and Tom Cochrane.

Bell also grew up in Sudbury and has similar genuine northern roots as Giles.

A press release said Giles, who's a singer-songwriter, is known for her soulful spirit and voice, which was first introduced to the world in 2014 with her debut indie record Shine.

The past three years have carried her on a journey of both highs and lows personally and professionally. During that time, Giles compiled many demos and has taken time to research and seek out business partners with an authentic fit; those that are in alignment with her vision.

“I’m Done” was written in Sudbury and came to life in Toronto.

“This song serves as an empowering anthem for all,” Giles said. “It’s about saying goodbye and fully letting go of what no longer serves one’s health and happiness.

“It of course can be applied to a romantic relationship scenario, but the overall intention of the song far surpasses that, and I believe it can be applied to many situations.

“It may actually act as an anthem to stand up against multiple forms of abuse. It’s about taking a strong stand for Self.”

Giles is most recently known for her success in CBC’s Searchlight contest, reaching the top 25 nationwide and acquiring radio play with her single Unspoken.

Though her new release greatly differs in style from her previous single, it is just as strong and impactful - if not more.

Fans have much to look forward to with the release of “I’m Done” as well as a new album to follow later this year.
