Support campus and community radio in Greater Sudbury during CKLU 96.7 FM’s annual Pledge Week, which runs March 18-24 this year.

For 40 years, CKLU has been the only campus and community radio station in Northeastern Ontario. It broadcasts from a studio in the McEwen School of Architecture in downtown Sudbury.

“CKLU is a not-for-profit, self-supported community radio station with over 30 volunteer DJs representing multiple languages and formats,” the station said in a press release. “From spoken word news & community interest programs to a wide range of music, CKLU gives airtime to emerging Canadian and local artists of all genres.”

From hip-hop to EDM, jazz to country, metal to punk and everything in between, CKLU has a show for you. The station is also the official broadcaster of the Sudbury Wolves.

During Pledge Week, CKLU lets special guest hosts take over the mic, and this Pledge Week is no different.

No stranger to CKLU and part of the station's long history, Paul Loewenberg takes over at 4 p.m. on March 22.

“His show ‘Monster a Go-Go’ was a mainstay at the station for over two decades,” CKLU said in a news release. “Get ready for a history lesson.”

On March 19 at 4 p.m., Sudbury.com editor Mark Gentili, a newspaper guy with a passion for radio, settles into the host’s chair.

“Gentili is reluctant to divulge the names of his guests or, as they say in the business, his ‘sources,  but there’s sure to be some riveting stories and discussion along with his personal choice in music.”

Former radio host and author Sean Barrette is on March 19 as well, at 12 p.m. He's a musician, composer, and storyteller who will play a wide range of music and feature many of the artists from his recent book “Heartstrings: First Guitars”.

“Help CKLU continue to represent the City of Greater Sudbury, its people, artists, news, sports and events with insightful programming and a wide variety of music choices.”
