Celebrate autumn and the Laurentian University greenspace with a walk and special activities on the university campus Oct. 15.

Organized by the Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, the event begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Ben Avery Gym parking lot on the Laurentian campus.

“All are welcome to come enjoy the fall colours, learn more about the greenspace, and participate in some fun and unique art activities for all ages,” the coalition said in a news release.

Described as an “easy” two-kilometre walk, the stroll will be guided by Franco Mariotti, Peter Beckett and Chris Gore.

“Stops will be made at special view-points and community locations to share what the space has meant to our community, and the ecological, watershed, scientific, regreening and learning values of the area,” the coalition said.

Two special guests will also be leading activities as part of this event. Local artist Elyse Portal will share how to find and harvest local pigments, while inviting people “to listen attentively to the land around them.”

At the end of the route, ECCCo (Early Childhood Creative Collaborations) will provide a simple art map-making activity for families who want to draw their walk, noting all the special sights and experiences they enjoyed. This activity should be wrapped up by approximately 4:30 p.m.
