The Market is now open

Fresh air, fresh food and free parking for all

The Market is now open for the season.

The Market has changed its hours of operation this year in order to better accommodate customers. It will continue to open, rain or shine, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until October.

New this year, The Market will not open on Sundays. Instead, beginning in July, The Market will be open on Thursdays from 3-7 p.m. in the parking lot on York Street.

“I wish all new and returning vendors a successful Market season,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger. “The addition of a weekday opening on York Street will increase our ability to accommodate people who wish to do their shopping during the week.”

Vendors will feature a variety of products, including alpaca products, hand-crafted tea cup bird feeders, aromatherapy rollers featured at the MTV music awards, seedlings and potted plants, as well as a wide selection of vegetable transplants, seedlings, and annual flowers. Vendors will feature special sales for opening day, including 10 per cent off hooded towels, and a jewelry sale.

The Sudbury Food Policy Council will have an interactive display and seed-starting for children, and Rainbow Routes will be on-site to promote their Market Walks.
Local performers and community groups will add to the festive atmosphere of The Market with free entertainment and activities every Saturday. Colourful canopies cover most of the site to provide protection from the weather.

For opening day, The Market will be participating in the Downtown Sudbury Art crawl by hosting artists on site. These artists will be the Sudbury Arts Council, Monique Legault and student, Naomi Connelly.

Special food vendors will also be on site for the grand opening.

The Market offers fresh air, fresh food, free parking, bike racks and a bus stop just steps away.
