THUNDER BAY – City police chief J.P. Levesque has been charged with breach of trust and obstructing justice following a five-month investigation by the OPP.

The charges against Levesque were announced Tuesday morning in a provincial police news release.

In January, the OPP received a request from the RCMP to conduct an investigation, with the case referred to an OPP criminal investigations branch major case manager.

Specific details about the nature of the charges have not been released, with the OPP media release noting the provincial police will not be commenting further.

Levesque is expected to be in court on June 13.
