Canadian Idol Daryl Brunt is still No. 1 in the hearts of Sudbury fans. Although he did not make the cut Wednesday, his supporters in Sudbury will welcome him home warmly today at New Sudbury Centre from 1 to 3 pm.

The City of Greater Sudbury has proclaimed Aug. 14 Daryl Brunt Day.

Northern Life received a number of phone calls from fans of the ousted Canadian Idol contestant who say they had problems voting for him Tuesday night because of the severe weather conditions.

CTV vice-president of communications Mike Cosentino doesn?t know for sure if anything went wrong, but voting problems in contestants? hometowns are not unusual, he says.

?I would tell you that these (complaints) are typical. From week to week, we experience voting problems in almost all the competitors? hometowns. So,
these are the results of the telephone systems becoming overwhelmed. It?s something that?s not in our control at CTV.?

Cosentino reminds viewers that they have two hours to vote for their favourite contestant. It?s easier to get your vote in during the second hour, he says.

The current issue of TV Guide has all the lowdown on the Canadian Idol hopefuls.
