A local coffee shop is looking to shed a little light on the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
On May 24, the Twiggs Coffee Roaster Relay for Life team will be lighting up the patio of the coffee shop with luminaries to remember those who have lost their fight, to celebrate survivors and to commit to raising funds.
The event happens from 4-11 p.m. There will be live music, and guests can donate money to receive a luminary to light up the balcony.
“We want to build excitement and awareness for June 15,” said Lindsay Cooper, sponsorship and corporate recruitment team lead with the Canadian Cancer Society. “The luminary ceremony is a beautiful event, and it means a lot to a lot of people. We just want to showcase the Relay and let people know it's coming up soon.”
She said Twiggs is a great location in a high-traffic area of the city to host an event like this. The luminaries will be visible to the thousands of motorists, shoppers and passersby along The Kingsway.
“(Twiggs) is very happy to support this cause,” Cooper said.
