Need a furnace or know someone who does? You may want to tell United Way Centraide North East Ontario / Nord-est de l’Ontario about it.

United Way and Northern Air & Mechanical Systems Inc. (669-Heat) have teamed up to gift a new furnace to a deserving local family through its Winter Warmth Furnace Giveaway Contest.

How do you win? People can nominate themselves or a deserving family by visiting UWCNEO.com and submitting a story of (250 words or less) describing the need for a furnace. The deadline to submit is Friday, Nov. 25 at midnight.

The lucky winner will be announced Dec. 12 with the installation to be completed before the holidays.

“The past few years have been very challenging for many families in our community,” said Brian Eadie, owner of Northern Air & Mechanical Systems, in a news release. “We felt it was important to make a difference and wanted to partner with United Way to give a high-efficiency furnace to family in need.”

Mary Lou Hussak, executive director of the area United Way branch, said the giveaway will make one family’s Christmas that much warmer.

"We are incredibly excited to be partnering with 669-Heat to provide a little warmth this holiday season,” Hussak said. “Nobody should have to go without heat over the winter, and the Winter Warmth Furnace Giveway is one way we are able to help Individuals and families living in poverty."
