The University of Sudbury has appointed a new member, Mario Michel, to its Board of Regents.

According to a release, Michel is currently a professor at Collège Boréal where he has also been a consultant, a program coordinator and a member of many committees. Since 1995, he has taught numerous courses at the college in finance, entrepreneurship, statistics, international commerce, accounting and marketing. 

From 2003 to 2014, he taught commerce at Laurentian University, where he completed a Master of Business Administration in 2006, after having completed an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in 1987.

Michel is also a co-owner of several family businesses under Michael Holdings Limited and has been treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Garderie Touche-à-tout daycare at Laurentian University, a member of the finance committee of the St-Eugène Parish in Sudbury, and a coach of several hockey teams in Copper Cliff.

The University of Sudbury is a member of the Laurentian University Federation with programs in journalism, folklore and ethnology, religious studies, philosophy and indigenous studies.
