Volunteers being sought as Red Cross abuse counselling educators

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking caring and committed individuals to become Volunteer Prevention Educators for its RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention program.

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking caring and committed individuals to become Volunteer Prevention Educators for its RespectED: Violence and Abuse Prevention program.

Red Cross fully trains and certifies prevention educators to deliver presentations in schools and communities on topics related to abuse, neglect and relationship violence to both youth and adults who work with youth.

Volunteer prevention educators must be 18 years of age or older, available to work during school hours, reliable and non-judgmental, and willing to work as part of a team.

Prevention educators will gain a wealth of experience, including in-depth training and knowledge of the many facets of abuse, improved communication skills and the opportunity to meet interesting people.

Most importantly, they will gain the satisfaction of knowing they will be making a difference in the lives of young people.

RespectED is an award-winning program that promotes safe, supportive relationships and healthy communities. Its mission is to break the cycle of abuse, neglect, harassment and interpersonal violence through prevention eduction.

This service is dependent on abuse prevention educators who care enough to carry out the service.
