Area team captains are needed to collect much-needed funds for cancer research.

Estimated cancer statistics for 2002 were just released and indicate a total of 136,900 new cases of cancer would appear and that 66,200 deaths would be attributed to cancer across Canada.

This means one in three people in Canada will be affected by getting cancer or having a loved one get the dreaded disease in their lifetime.

Sixty years ago, only one in five cancer patients recovered, but because of fundraising and research, one in two patients survive.

If interested in volunteering, phone Shelley Vezina, residential campaign co-ordinator for the Sudbury area, at 670-1234, ext. 231.
