ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) is a paralyzing, life-ending condition with a prognosis of two to five years of life. ALS attacks and kills the motor neurons in the body, denying you the ability to move, to speak and finally to breathe.

It has no known cause, no effective treatment and no cure. ALS Canada provides equipment and support services for clients in Ontario, and funds breakthrough research towards treatments and a cure.

The Walk for ALS raised more than $1.4 million in Ontario in 2012. The goal for 2013 is $1.64 million.

Registration for the Sudbury event begins at 9 a.m., with the walk starting at 10 a.m.

Those who raise at least $100 receive prizes.
