Freezing rain Sunday and overnight has led to wet, slippery roads and sidewalks, and there is concern that when the temperature drops, Sudbury will experience a flash freeze.

Greater Sudbury Police have issued a warning to motorists in the city, urging them to remain home unless absolutely necessary.

"Main roads that are well travelled are in fair condition," stated a release. "All side roads are icy and poor."

Though the report doesn't mention sidewalks and driveways, those too are slippery. Sidewalks look more like wet skating rinks than sidewalks.

Temperatures Sunday and Monday are looking to be above freezing (O degrees Celsius), meaning that precipitation is coming down as rain.

The warm weather and cold ground has resulted in foggy conditions, limiting visibility.

According to the Weather Network, temperatures will remain above freezing for the rest of the day.

Temperatures will remain mild until Wednesday, when they drop below freezing again, according to the Weather Network.

Rain will change into flurries as the week moves on.
