After finding out that a forensic audit of the transit ticket scandal was never completed because of lack of co-operation by city staff, Mayor Brian Bigger said he's taken steps to find out who's responsible.

“I want to share next steps, in addition to the items outlined in my press conference yesterday, regarding the forensic audit for transit,” he said in a June 24 email statement.

“I have instructed the Interim CAO to investigate this matter further, and to identify those responsible for misinforming council and the public. The culture must change at city hall, and I, along with council will ensure that this occurs."

Bigger said at a June 23 press conference that he'd hoped the audit would answer the many questions still swirling about how a city contractor was able to owe the city upwards of $1-million while retaining and renewing his contract.

The audit into the transit ticket contractor was started, but city staff failed to provide further information the auditors said they needed to complete their work, Bigger said.
