Heavy rain is expected tonight and residents should take precautions, Environment Canada said in a statement Monday afternoon.

“Rain, at times heavy, is forecast to develop this evening and then persist into tonight,” the statement said. “Twenty-five to 45 mm of accumulation is expected before the rain tapers to showers early Tuesday morning.”

The rainfall may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas. Updates on weather conditions will be posted to Sudbury.com as they come available.
