Two dead crows found in the city have tested positive for West Nile Virus. Results from the federal laboratory in Winnipeg were released late last week.

The testing confirms results of an examination in Guelph where vital organs from the birds were examined a couple of weeks ago.

Local health unit spokesperson Ed Wierzbicki said residents should continue taking simple, personal protective measures during the rest of the mosquito season.

He added it is also very import to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in standing water around homes.

People seeing a dead crow or raven can call the health unit at 522-9200. Additional information on the virus is available at the same number.
