Christopher Robert Aelick

January 18, 1959 - March 31, 2024

With profound sadness after a courageous battle with cancer, we announce that Chris passed away, March 31, 2024, in Sudbury at the age of 65. Son of Doris Aelick nee (Tustian,) and the late Rawleigh (Bob) Aelick. Loving husband of Lee (nee Carrier.) Brother of Laurie Thomson (Doug). Son in law of Leo (predeceased) and Elizabeth Carrier. Brother-in-law of Stacey Carrier. Uncle of Christopher Thomson (predeceased), Brendan Thomson and Becca Pigg, Bradley and Jaimee Thomson, and Chelsea Golden. Great Uncle of McKinley, Myles and Leah Thomson.

Chris lived a full life and leaves a legacy of many adventures, filled with times of working, hunting and playing on the family farm, summers at the family camp in Little Current and his in law’s camp on Windy Lake, learning to fly and achieving his pilot’s license, teaching himself to sail on a Hobie Cat and then going onto sailing his beloved catamaran appropriately named Wine Down in the Northern Channel, and travelling many places both near and far in this big beautiful world. Chris touched the lives of his large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins as well as dear and cherished friends over the years.

In lieu of flowers Chris asked that we support the hospice, feed the hungry, plant a tree, pay it forward in some way, and to remember him when gathering with family and friends over a good meal and a favourite beverage. Over his final months he reminded us to get out there, do things, have fun, make memories because life really is short.

Chris knew where all the richness and blessings in his life came from. They came from God.

Those we love can never be more than a thought away. For as long as there is a memory, they live in our hearts to stay.

As per Chris’s wishes there will be no funeral. Private family gatherings will be held at a later date.
