It is with profound sadness, the family mourns the peaceful departure of Mark Akehurst at the age of 69, embraced by his loved ones after a long battle with COPD.
Mark, the eldest son of the late Alan John Akehurst, is survived by his mother, Jean Margaret Broom Akehurst. He leaves behind his cherished wife and soulmate of 43 years, Debbra Akehurst, along with his beloved daughter, Sheri Frend, and son-in-law, Mihai Cristolovean. Mark will be fondly remembered by his siblings: Stephen Akehurst (Nancy), Kim Mclean (Brian), and David Akehurst, as well as his nieces and nephews, Robyn, Meagan, Matthew, and Cale.
Mark was a passionate hobbyist, with interests ranging from stamp collecting to hot wheels cars. In his healthier days, he was an avid traveller and adventurer, with a tender spot in his heart reserved for animals, particularly his beloved cat Snoopy (aka Bubba). He possessed a sensitive soul deeply affected by the world's injustices, yet he rarely revealed his own struggles. Mark served as his family's steadfast sounding board, offering an open heart and wise counsel. His voice, now stilled, leaves behind a guiding light to illuminate our darkest moments.
In accordance with Mark's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held, respecting his quiet departure. The family invites donations in Mark’s memory to Pet Save Sudbury https://petsavesudbury.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ranger’s Cremation and Burial Services Ltd. Online condolences can be posted at www.RangersSudbury.com
