ANTONOWICZ, Henry K (VM) - In Loving Memory of Henry K. Antonowicz (VM). Passed away on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011. Beloved husband of Renata Antonowicz (nee Hajduk). Loving father of Casimir and Daniel (wife Beth). Cherished grandfather of Davis and Kaye. Loving brother of Jadwiga Klosinski. Dear son of Kazimierz and Stanislawa Antonowicz predeceased. For 5 years during the Second World War Henry served honorably as part of the Allied Forces in the Middle East and Europe (2nd Polish Corps under 8th British Army Command). Wounded in action under heavy front line fighting at the Battle for Monte Cassino, Henry received numerous decorations both British and Polish. The most notable being the Silver Cross of Virtuti Militari. He was eventually awarded the rank of Second Lieutenant. Coming to Canada after the war, Henry spent 37 years working for INCO in Sudbury.
