AUBIN, (Joseph Henri) Fern - In Loving Memory of Aubin - (Joseph Henri) Fern - June 1, 1921 - December 3, 2012 - Monday morning December 3rd, 2012 at Health Sciences North at 91 years of age. It is with heavy hearts that we say good bye to an amazing man who made our world a better place to be. Dear son of the late Joseph Henri and Elizabeth Aubin (nee Perrault) and beloved best friend and husband of Mercedes Aubin (nee Clarke). Loving father to Carol McKegg (husband Greg) of Sudbury, Paul Aubin (wife Brenda) of Sudbury, Dona Aubin of Sudbury and Lori Rowe of British Columbia. Brother to Raymond Lavoie predeceased, Bernard Aubin, predeceased, and June Williams (Trebb, Aubin) of Toronto. Special Uncle to Diane Huard (Maurice) of Val Caron, Giselle Hall (Bob) of Port Hope and Denis Lavoie (Shirley) of Shelburne. Fern meant the world to sister-in-law Madeline Sinnott (Clarke) predeceased of Newfoundland and son-in- law, Alan Sage (predeceased) of Sudbury. Precious Poppa to Nathan Aubin (wife Penny Laine Rhodes) of Sudbury and Kristen Aubin of Sault Ste. Marie. Forever cherished great grandfather “GP“ to Christian, Kaedan, Tyson and Devyn. Never forgotten, deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his forever golfing buddies Ron Rivard, Leo Spence and Garnet Smith predeceased. Fern had a very special place in his heart for Tigger and Whitney his furry four legged companions. Born in Espanola, Fern married Mercedes in Sudbury in 1946 after meeting her while serving in WWII in St.John's, Newfoundland. He brought his beautiful bride, Mercedes home to Sudbury where they created a loving home for the past 66 years. Fern worked as an electrician for INCO for 44 years, retiring in 1984 and enjoyed a fruitful and fulfilling retirement. He lived life to its fullest and took great pleasure in the simple joys life had to offer. . . fishing, tinkering in his basement, his garden and raspberry bushes, making wine, conversations (he loved to talk), his wife's cooking, “garage saleing“, and in the later years of his life his passion was golf. Fern was a kind hearted, gracious and lovable man with a special twinkle in his eyes. He always saw the good in someone. He will forever be in our hearts and alive in our memories through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. These precious memories will bring smiles back to replace our tears at this most difficult time. Fern touched the hearts of all those he met and we are blessed to have had him in our lives. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 6th, 2012 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Coniston. Friends and family can gather with Fern's family from 10:00 am to 10:45 am and a mass to follow at 11am. A celebration of Fern's life will follow in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison Vale Hospice would be greatly appreciated. (Arrangements entrusted to the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME).
