BARSTEAD, Kenneth Lloyd - February 27, 1926 to October 3, 2010 - Ken passed away peacefully at Sudbury Regional Hospital with the love of his life, his devoted wife Verna by his side. He is predeceased by his parents, Mary and Alfred Barstead, brothers Lawrence, Cameron, Harold, Ben, Reid, Clark, Robert and Art and sister Ruth. Ken will be deeply missed by his wife, Verna Barstead, children April, Keith, Rebecca (Marcus) and Joanne (Ray) and step-children Ken, Ross (Ruby) and Doug. He was a devoted grandfather and role model to Steve (Tanya), Nancy (Angie), Brandon (Holley), Chris, Brittany (Shawn), Lauren, Charles, William, Hayden, Jennifer, Jason (Shelley), Tyler and Alexa and a very proud great-grandfather to Emily, Cole, Jayda, Ryder and Thorren. Ken led a full and honorable life which included service in the military in WWII and a lengthy career with Ontario Hydro. He was known and respected for his intelligence, keen wit and endearing personality. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by many friends and family members including nephew Darwin (Verly), niece Lorna, extended family Ilene and Tommy Bell, Melvina and Gerry Labre, Violet Ross, Dora Richway, longtime friend Stanley Sloan and many others. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Trinity United Church in Capreol at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome.
