BEATON, Augustine (Gus) - It is with great sadness that the family of Augustine Claver Beaton of Dowling, announce his passing. On April 2, 2011, Gus died from complications due to a fall. Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia on September 4, 1928; he is most lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Sara (Sally) Beaton (née MacEachern); his five children, Christine and Catherine Beaton: Patricia Lynn (John Paul) Sylvester; Mark Beaton (Elisabeth Sorensen); and Michael Beaton (Beverly Brown). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan and Amanda Beaton, Matthew and Sarah Frehlich, Connor and Katelyn Hunerfauth; Caroline and Rebecca Sorensen; Catherine and Emelia Sylvester; and Michael Brown. He is survived by his siblings Rose (Jasper) Cook, Margaret, Donald, Catherine Beaton, and Bernie (Don) Myher. He will be missed for his generous nature and genuine delight that he took in his children and grandchildren. He will be missed for his story telling and his ability to be a Jack of All Trades. He will be missed. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Merotto and the staff at the Sudbury Regional Hospital who provided such respectful care during Gus' rapid decline. A celebration of Gus' life will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at St. Stephen's Church in Dowling at 3:00 pm. A summer memorial will be held for family and friends. Contributions to the memory of Gus can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Stephen's Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford.
