BELANGER, Michel Yves - In Loving Memory of Michel Yves Belanger, 75 years Monday evening, April 9th, 2012 at Health Sciences North. Born in Montreal, Quebec September 9th, 1936 to Aime and Therese Belanger. He moved to Sudbury in 1954. Attended St. Louis des Gonzague and Sudbury High. Was a member of the Ste. Anne's Church Youth Centre. He worked with his father in the restaurant business till joining the work force for Inco in 1959. Was a first-class maintenance mechanic and progressed to mill-wright, retiring in 1990. Michel married Betty Logan in 1960 and moved to Chelmsford. Was an affiliate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 553 Chelmsford. Also belonged to the Senior's Craft's Shoppe and acted as their Public Relations spokesman. Was a faithful member of St. Pius X Church in Lively. While Sudbury hosted the Special Olympics in 1998, Michel was a dedicated volunteer. He enjoyed cooking, hunting, wood-working, travelling and gardening. Beloved husband of Betty (Logan) Belanger of Lively. Loving father of Jeanne predeceased, Lise Boisvert (Alain) of Ottawa and Monique Conway (Steve) of Virginia. Cherished grandfather of Roxanne, Christopher, Scott, David, Sarah and Jessica. Predeceased by his parents Aime and Therese (Devost) Belanger. Dear brother of Isabelle Guay (Raymond) of Ottawa, Louise Laforge (Quellete) (Jacques predeceased) of Ottawa, Fernand (Anita) of Warren, Jean-Marie (Debbie) of Manotick, Antonio (Faye) of Quebec, Daniel (Diane) and Pierre both of Ottawa. Predeceased by his In-laws John and Sarah Loverick. Loved by his many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Memorial Prayers will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Thursday April 12th, 2012 at 2pm. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
