In loving memory of John O’Connor Anthony Benoit, 93 years. Passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North in Sudbury on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023.

Predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Rose Benoit (nee Boote) in 2018. John was the last child of Joseph and Bridget Benoit (nee O’Connor) both predeceased. Also predeceased by his siblings Francis, Bernard, Kathleen, Ann, Patrick, and Teresa. Left to honor his memory are 25 nieces and nephews, and his cousins Pauline Hall of Calgary, and Gerald Clement of Windsor. Further a special remembrance is accorded to his close friends Ann, Louise, and Joan Malnachuk, Scarboro Priests of Toronto, and many friends at Red Oak Villa, especially the choir.

John was born on June 24th, 1930, in the C.P.R. Station in Verner, Ontario. He attended school in Verner, Ottawa, and Toronto, where he studied philosophy and theology. He was employed by the Provincial Government and was stationed in Chatham, Thunder Bay, and Sudbury in Probation and Parole Services. As a trained organist, he played for many weddings and church services in all the places that he lived. He was a dedicated worker in both interests in his life. Over the years, he gave his time helping with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus.

Memorial service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, July 7th 2023 at 10:00 am. Friends may gather at the funeral home after 9:30 am on Friday. For those unable to attend, the funeral can be viewed via live stream at this link.
