BENOIT, Lionel - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Monday, April 4, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Son of the late Leo and of the late Anna (née Labelle) Benoit. Husband of the late Gertrude Benoit (née Lafleur). Beloved father of Richard (Janine), Suzanne Liard (Gaston) and Nicole Battistuzzi (Fred). Dear brother of Lucille Lapensée (Arthur) and Hélène Gagnon (Jean-Guy). Predeceased by his brothers Rhéal (late Lorraine) and Fernand (Lilianne). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Michael, Benoit, Brianne, Jeffrey, Dominique, Justin and Andrea. Lovingly remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lionel was an Inco employee for 41 years. He was a very quiet man, loved his rocking chair, his 52“ TV and his hockey nights. He enjoyed meeting the boys at Tim Horton's for a coffee daily and going to his kids' place for supper. He loved camping and sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows with his family. “We will remember our dad the most for the love and devotion he had for our mom. She passed away in 2003 of a debilitating illness and he was by her side for 7 years. He took care of her with every inch of his love for her. Thanks Dad. We love you! Goodnight Chief.“ The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 7, 2011 at (time to be confirmed) in Ste-Anne-des-Pins Church, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario (Sudbury Chapter) or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
