Anthony Eric Beswick

June 13, 1941 – May 24, 2024

Tony passed away with his son Steven Beswick and his daughter Julie Dasti by his side. He now rests with his son Ricky Beswick and mother Constance Turner.

He was the loving grandfather to Sammy Beswick, Jessie Beswick and Robyn Dasti. He will be sadly missed by Horatio Coman. Tony was supported in his last days by friends and colleagues in his latest academic endeavour. He lived on and loved Penage Lake for decades, but originally Tony was raised in the northwest of England having spent his early years in the English Lake District and subsequently his grammar school years in Manchester. He obtained his B.Sc.in 1962 and his Ph.D. in 1965 from Imperial College, London University.

In 1968 Tony was appointed as the fifth member of the faculty of the Geology Department at Laurentian University. His favourite past time was to listen to music, everything  from Beatles to Bethoven, accompanied by a glass of California Cabernet. He will be remembered as a larger-than-life character with wit, charm and tenacity. The family would like to thank the staff on the 7th and 4th floors at Health Sciences North for all their kindness and support.

Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 11:30am-1:30pm with words of remembrance at 1pm. Interment in the Whitefish Public Cemetery.
