In loving memory of Janina Biskup (née Simko). 94 years, who passed away Wednesday February 28th, 2024, at Extendicare York Sudbury.
Beloved wife of Walter Biskup (predeceased 2008). Loving mother of Richard (predeceased), Loretta Micelotta (husband Pat) and Ed Biskup. Cherished grandmother of Alina (husband Andre Diamond) and Nick Micelotta (fiancée Shannon Reed). Dear daughter of Michal and Anna (Lipko) Simko, predeceased. Sadly missed by relatives in Poland.
Janina was born in Lejansk Poland, immigrated to Canada and married Walter in 1959. She was a devout Roman Catholic who faithfully attended St. Casimir’s Church where she belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary. She regularly visited the Grotto where she recited the rosary daily. She retired from the Sudbury Board of Education in 1990 with 14 years of service. After retirement, Janina cared for her precious grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker who enjoyed hosting family dinners, and no one ever left Janina’s house hungry. She was devoted to her family, taking great pride in her grandchildren and their activities and accomplishments. The light of her life will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express appreciation to nurses and staff of Extendicare York for the excellent care she received.
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St, Sudbury (friends may call 2:00pm – 4:00pm; 6:00pm – 8:00pm Friday, March 8th, 2024, with Parish prayers at 7:30pm).
Funeral Mass in St. Casimir’s Church 210 Paris St, Sudbury. Saturday March 9th, 2024 at 10:00am. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Maison Mc Culloch Hospice would be appreciated.
