Blanchette, Susan Carol (née Proulx)

Our beautiful Mother slipped quietly away with her family by her side in the early afternoon of February 19, 2024 after a life so well lived. Susan lived from the heart; her strength and positive outlook was felt by those who had the privilege to know her genuine kindness, warmth, patience and compassionate acceptance of others. Her smile will never be forgotten.

She will be forever missed by everyone who she touched along the way.

Born and raised in Sudbury, Susan was the baby of the family and was known for being the “Tomboy”. When raising her own family, she spent her days off creating cherished memories with us. We would travel South to Toronto and Hamilton, enjoying all the attractions, spending time with our cousins in the South and North and camping in remote areas with family and friends. Years later, she enjoyed her time at the camp on Nepewassi Lake with her beautiful grandchildren that she cherished so much, her children, friends and family playing games, swimming, fishing, and cooking meals for the whole family.

When retired from Pioneer Manor, where she worked for 30 years, Susan spent her time recreating new memories with our Father as empty nesters. She spent her free time bowling, playing cards, and traveling to the East Coast and Southern Ontario.

Susan rejoins in eternity her husband and soul mate, Maurice Blanchette, along with her parents, Raymond Proulx and Aline (Cousineau). Her dear brother, Roger, and dear sisters, Diane Dignard and Helen Leduc all predeceased.

She was the cherished, loving mother of Richard (Denise), Lise and Gisele (Marek), and cherished Grandmaman to Eric, Anik, Josée, Stephane, Connor and Jacqueline and Great Grandmaman to Dak and Caleb. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carrefour Sen Rheal Belisle Belfour, 2777 Main St, Blezard Valley on March 10, 2024, from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to Myeloma of Canada or Maison McCulloch Hospice.
