BOUFFARD, Irene

March 27, 2013 88

BOUFFARD, Irene Gladys (nee Draper) - Irene died suddenly in the hospital, March 25th, 2013 shortly after an accident in her home. Irene had three great loves during her long life: Vic, her soul mate of 53 years (deceased 2000); the home they built together in the “West End“ and lovingly tended for 63 years and their many shared travels from Hawaii to Switzerland. But, it was always the returning home that gave Irene the most pleasure. Irene was born in Sudbury in 1924 to Gordon Thomas (“G.T.“) Draper (CNR Engineer) and Eva Belanger. Her military service in the Postal Core during WWII defined her early years as did her propensity to chat-up any acquaintance encountered, and her love of a great book. Irene is survived by her children: Michael, wife Beth of Whitefish Falls ON; Patricia (Patty), husband Vernon Bennett of Durham NC; grandson; Patrick, wife Noriko of Berkley CA and granddaughter; Danielle, husband Cederic Gagnon of Hanmer ON and great grandchildren; Gabrielle Gagnon, Kiyomi and Kieji Bouffard. Irene was proud of her pioneer Copper Cliff heritage and is survived by her sisters; May Lauzon and Vicky Desjardins of Sudbury, brother; Peter Draper, wife Ann of Azilda and was predeceased by siblings; Joan, husband Gilbert Boivin of North Hollywood CA; Thomas Draper of Burlington ON and Great Aunt Beryl Draper of Copper Cliff. The family extends a welcome to the community to share Draper/Bouffard memories at a visitation Saturday, March 30th from 1-5pm at the JACKSON & BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Irene will be cremated without interment or further public services in keeping with her wishes. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Canadian Red Cross in Irene's memory is appreciated.
