The family announces with deep sorrow his sudden passing at home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Diane (Labelle) and loving, proud father of Scott. Dear son of the late Gerard and Lilian (Charette) Boulet. Dear brother of Jeannette, Jackie (Ron), Robert (Mary-Anne), and Rachel (Roger). Dear brother-in-law of René (predeceased), Sue (John), Marilyn (Andy predeceased), and Brian (Gaetanne predeceased). Treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Hanmer, Richard was enjoying his retirement after a long career in banking. He was an intelligent man, a kindhearted soul, and a devoted and loving husband and father. He always said, “his most precious gift in life was his son”. They truly were best friends. Richard and Scott were Sudbury Wolves fans and attended almost every game. They also enjoyed trying out different foods and restaurants together.

Richard loved family gatherings and telling stories…lots of them! He also enjoyed having friends over for snacks and wine, more stories, and was the mastermind of many practical jokes.

He was an avid reader, enjoyed documentaries, movies, music, remote-controlled car racing, and loved all motor sports.

Richard liked a strong cup of coffee and he had quite the coffee and mug assortment. He was known to bring his cat Pixel (who he affectionately called “Princess”) along for morning coffee runs. He loved going out for coffee with his brother and always looked forward to the next time.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter. He will be dearly missed!

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made directly to the Maison McCulloch Hospice.
