BRABANT, Gérard - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Son of the late Osias and of the late Emilia (née Dargy) Brabant. Beloved husband of Lina Brabant (née Devost) of Chelmsford. Loving father of Marcel Brabant (Pauline), Roger Branbant (Diane) and Yvette Bélanger (Oscar), Rachel Chartrand, Claude Brabant (Lorraine) and Michel Brabant (Diane) all of Chelmsford, Raymond Brabant of Sault-Ste-Marie, Nicole Slack (Chris) of Val Thérèse, André Brabant (Line) of Ottawa and Mona Roy (Jake) of Sudbury. Predeceased by his daughter Marianne Gauthier (late Georges). Dear brother of Thérèse Thibeault of Sudbury, Hélène Prudhomme (Émile) and Yvonne Vincent (late Émile) both of Val Thérèse and Marie- Jeanne Therrien (Theodore) of Azilda. Predeceased by his brothers Lionel, Jean, Lucien, Aurèle and by his sister Alice. Sadly missed by his 23 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren. Mr. Brabant retired from Inco in 1984 after 36 years of service. Gérard will be remembered for having been very involved in his community; president of the Chelmsford Fish & Game Association for 14 years, a Knights of Columbus member, council 6258, Valley Centre, Residence Council Extendicare Falconbridge and St- Joseph's Parish fundraising Committees. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing and hunting. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691, RR 15, CHELMSFORD, Friday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday June 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford.
