BRENNAN, Michael - (safe in the arms of Jesus) - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the age of 81 years. Son of the late Sydonie (née Larin) and Denis Brennan. Beloved husband and best friend of 50 years of Shirley Brennan (née Tarrant) of Garson. Loving father of Kathy Barnard (Drew) of Vancouver. Special Grampy to Miriam and Elisha of whom he was so very proud and loved dearly. Dear brother of Ellen Cayen (Roger) of Cambridge, Sister Kathleen Brennan (Sisters of St. Joseph) of Sudbury and Margaret Lafleur of Owen Sound and brother-in-law of June Lecour (late Lyn) of Sudbury. Predeceased by his brother Dennis (Penny of Sudbury), his sister Elizabeth Drolet (Jack of Ottawa) and his mother-in-law Anne Tarrant. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Born and raised in Creighton, Michael, whose motto in life was “be prepared“, will be remembered for having been a kind, gentle, thoughtful man, devoted to his family, always willing to give of himself to help family, friends and neighbours. Michael was employed at Inco for 42 years and after retirement, he remained friends with his co-workers, sharing their company faithfully every morning at the mall. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bagpipes and sports as well as an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Michael was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Church in Coniston. In keeping with Michael's request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date. Donations (by cheque only) to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
