BURNS, Ken

September 10, 2012

BURNS, Ken - In Loving Memory of Ken Burns. Ken Burns, a long-time resident of Sudbury and Hagar, passed away Thursday September 6th after a brave battle with cancer. Ken was surrounded by family at the time of his death and is dearly missed by his wife Evelyne Burns, his daughters Michelle Burns and Liz Swan and his sister Kathy Burns. He will also be missed by sister-in-law Ethel Mae Seaman, her husband Anthony and her sons Conrad and Eric. Ken will also be missed by his nephew Andrew Collins, his wife Stephanie and their two young children. Ken grew up in Owen Sound, went to university in London Ontario and went on to spend twenty-seven years teaching at Cambrian College in Sudbury, retiring in 2008. Ken loved to entertain in front of a class of students and will be remembered by thousands of them who knew him through the years as a dynamic, kind-hearted and generous person who never had a shortage of funny stories to tell. In addition to a passion for teaching, Ken was an avid fisherman and an artist, producing fine pieces of woodwork over the last thirty-five years. Another of Ken's passions was socializing with friends, never missing a chance to turn an ordinary barbecue into a celebration. With this in mind, Ken's family would like to invite friends, neighbours, former colleagues and students to an informal gathering at JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, September 11th. Anyone who would like to meet with family, share a story or pay final respect is welcome between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. Ken's family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to Maison Vale Hospice in Sudbury.
